 Episode Impressions

The 8th episode of One Punch Man‘s second season was PHENOMENAL!!!  While many may hate the cliffhanger from it, I believe it did everything it needed to do correctly; we got to see a glimpse of the Monster Association’s plans, the overwhelming power of monsters against normal humans and the despair it causes, and we get to see the reasons that heroes exist.

Suiryu’s power is unrivaled by most other martial artists, while he is no match for Saitama, he showed amazing talent in the previous episode even though he lost.  His unyielding personality and moral compass to do the right thing shine in my opinion; even though arrogance played a part he did not want to harm anyone.  On the brink of death, he still did not consider anything besides either fighting or running.

On the other hand we got to see people willing turn themselves into violent-loving, hate-filled beasts because they wanted to survive more than preserving their humanity.  Some others turned into monsters simply because they felt like their power would grow and wanted to hold dominion over other’s lives.  Regardless of the decisions, people knew right from wrong and still chose the easy path because it was right in front of them.

The Monster Association is an organized lot with a main leader who has yet to say anything, but it is apparent his power must far exceed anyone within his service; that includes Goketsu and other Dragon-level threats.

The next episode is going to show the power of Saitama once again I am sure, but I feel like the build-up is definitely something we needed.  Whether-or-not he defeats him with one punch does not matter to me, rather, it shows why heroes are needed.  It shows why someone with overwhelming power like Saitama is the light that gives people hope in times when they stop believing that anything can be done.

This was a fantastic episode and I cannot wait for next week’s!
