WAIFU CRUSH WEDNESDAY?

Waifu Crush Wednesday is modeled after the popular “#WCW” or “Women Crush Wednesday” that got famous after trending on social media.

This editorial series focuses upon female characters in gaming, anime, and manga that I happen to like in one form or another.  I will do my best to explain my affinity for that particular character.

 WHO’S MORRIGAN AENSLAND?

Morrigan Aensland is a succubus from the video game series Darkstalkers (Known as “Vampire Savior” in Japanヴァンパイア セイヴァー】 ).  She is Princess of the Aensland House, but later on becomes Queen of the Makai after her adopted father, Belial passes away.

Morrigan soul is originally split into thirds in order to contain her power so it does not destroy her and the world; one within her father to be given to her when he dies, one within a pocket dimension that eventually becomes Lilith, and one within herself.

To put it quite frankly, Morrigan is a succubus with immense power who is simultaneously ruling the Aensland House as Queen of the Demon World.

 ADORATION

Morrigan as she appears in Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite

Morrigan Aensland is a character I have always had a fondness for, mainly for the same reason I was drawn to Mai Shiranui of Fatal Fury, her sex appeal. The future leader of the Makai is a succubus, a being that is said to feed off of the energy of men by having sex with them, so she was made to be a character that was naturally supposed to be stimulating.

I was first introduced to Morrigan Aensland when I borrowed Darkstalkers 3 ヴァンパイア セイヴァーfrom a friend during middle school and found a new type of fighting game. My favorite characters happened to be Lei-Lei (Hsien-Ko), Bulleta (B.B.Hood), and Q.Bee…but Morrigan stood out the most for me.  The aesthetic, the win quotes, everything.

Moving forward, I enjoyed Morrigan with super moves like “Eternal Slumber” (which was quite provocative at the time), her cute Scottish accent in Marvel vs Capcom 3 series, or her personality traits in the story mode for Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite.  So, while she is not my favorite CAPCOM girl and I do not tend to use her but so often, she is definitely amongst my top 5 picks for overall favorite gaming waifu and someone I never get tired of making an appearance.

Another big thing that has helped me love Morrigan is probably all of the fanart and doujinshi of her.  By design, Ms. Aensland is sexy which prompts some very risqué fan drawings, but pleasant nonetheless.
