I have been gone for a very long time from writing anything for my website, in fact, the last thing I wrote was a review for the Splatoon Vol. 1 manga back in December of 2017! While I really wanted to do more, I could not do so simply because of the fact I was using “Blogger” as my platform and many, many, things were wrong with that system but I made it work because I had no other choice.
Not having very much money to devote to other things because of my circumstances means I did not have the money necessary to be able to afford monthly hosting like you would for an actual website. Instead, I used a very heavily modified blog and bought a domain through blogger.com to be hosted by GoDaddy for only $12 a year. This was not bad at all for what I needed. However, so many things were left to be desired; page navigation, having access to useful plugins, proper seo data making my site visible on ranking websites like Alexa (which probably made it so people did not contact me for advertising), and so on and so forth.
Now, I have everything I really need in order to make the grandest of returns and provide the very best gaming, anime, and manga in the form of reviews, interviews, and in-depth editorials! Though, I am incredibly happy to say the least with how everything came together…but it was all possible because of a certain little someone.
Raven the Wise!
This awesome person you see before you goes by the name of “Raven”, though I happen to affectionately call her “RaV-Chan ♥“! She is the sole reason I have this opportunity to really spread my wings and do everything that I have wanted to do with RoKtheReaper.com. She is currently the one hosting my website, not to mention she is the one who designed and customized all of my site’s elements to my liking, helping me out whenever I had a question or needed something done, and was never hesitant to give her support!
Also, she is an AMAZING artist. RaV is also the the artist behind the Bionca Lily Gangsha (RoKtheReaper.com’s mascot) character that you see in this post’s featured image and on the banner present on the website, taking my original character and adding her own style’s flair to it. Furthermore, she is the one responsible for the art seen of Bionca for my “ReaperCast” episodes!
The thing that really gets me about all of this is that she did not have to go this far, not at all. Even during the midst of me typing this very article I had some issues that came up; Related Posts links were overlapping each other, HR line color would not change and defaulted to white, and some other links she noticed were “off by 1”, and she fixed them all. I consider her a close friend, and because she also considers me one she is willing to go to this length to help me, and I cannot stress how grateful I am for her kindness.
For years I knew that WordPress would be a better platform than Blogger would, however I did not have the money nor the knowledge to effectively make that transition. I am going to be perfectly honest with you all… I was scared, terrified of throwing away years of work and knowledge to possibly start fresh on an unfamiliar platform with its own things to learn. Raven eliminated this for me by hosting my domain and moving it away from GoDaddy, by fixing up my site the way I would want, and providing support as both an expert when it comes to WordPress and as a close personal friend.
Thank you so much for the help you have given me and the help I know you’ll be providing in the future! I am fortunate to have a friend who has such talent, kindness, and commitment to her friends!
