A group of five boys transfer into a Hachimitsu Private Academy, a school which was an all-girl’s school until a change in chairman took place.  The chairman changed the school’s policy and are now allowing male students to be admitted, leading to the transfer of our five male protagonists.   The reason that they transferred was mainly because the female-to-male ratio happens to be 200:1 as of current!  Morokuzu Takehito (Gakuto), Wakamoto Shingo (Shingo), Fujino Kiyoshi (Kiyoshi), Nezu Jouji (Joe), and Andou Reiji (Andre) feel as though this will be a great opportunity for them.

However, devious schemes and plans lead the group awry, and upon being caught are now subject to the punishments of the “Undeground Student Council”; a group of women (Midorikawa Hana, Shiraki Meiko, and Mari "the crowmaster") whom credit themselves with keeping illicit sexual activities under control at the school.  Their sentence is one month.  Will the group be able to survive?  Will Kiyoshi ever get to have a chance with Chiyo-chan?

Beautiful, ruthless, and someone who treasures strength above all else perfectly sums up Esdeath.  Esdeath happens to be the “Final Boss” of the anime Akame ga Kill, so to speak.  She possesses power that is unparalleled to most since her Imperial Arms, Demon God Manifestation: Demon’s Extract, gives her the unique ability to be able to control ice no matter where she is, no matter the weather, whether she is around water or not.  Living by her father’s creed, “The strong survive and the weak die”, she can be heartless and brutal at times…but why is it that I am so fond of her?  I guess you will have to hit the jump to find out!

K
iller Instinct is one of my favorite fighting game series of all-time.  I use to play Killer Instinct Gold for the Nintendo 64 all the time when I was younger, however, the fact that we had not seen a new iteration into the series after so many years left me disappointed and with little hope.  Then, out of nowhere, we began to see rumors that Microsoft was set to revive the famed fighting-game franchise for the release of its new console, the Xbox One.

Not long after its announcement, I won a tournament at one of Microsoft’s preview events.  I was blown away by the particle effects on fireballs, loved how they integrated audio into everything, and by just everything the game was at that time…so what has changed my mind now?

I have an Xbox One and I have Killer Instinct, yet I will barely play it and I credit to how the game evolved from its predecessors and why it is not what I hoped that it would be.

Ray Gigant is finally coming to the west!  It will be released digitally for the Playstation Vita with Playstation TV capability in both North American an European markets in Spring 2016.  Acttil has announced that this dungeon crawling JRPG will have Japanese voice overs with English subtitles as well.

Ray Gigant will also reveal each of the three main heroes stories through their own arcs and will mesh them all together by the end of the game, making for a compelling experience.

RWBY is the tale of Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Yang Shao-Long, and Blake Belladonna.  They are huntresses-in-training, powerful defenders of their world from the evil forces that would seek to destroy it.  Volume 2 ended on a cliffhanger high note, many suspenseful things already being expected from the finale.  However, things are uncertain for Volume 3, and many feel the same as I do.

Monty Oum, the brilliant mind behind RWBY has passed away since the release of RWBY: Volume 2’s completion.  Without him at the helm, many are wondering what will become of the series and if it will be able to capture his what he envisioned his creation to be.  With Volume 3 upon us, it is as good of a time as any to see if his legacy will indeed carry on through the efforts of others.

Hit the jump for my full impression.

Trials of Osiris is Destiny’s “end game” Player vs Player game mode.  The objective in this mode is to obtain nine straight victories and make your way to “The Lighthouse” on Mercury, a place which holds weapons with power equivalent to the hard version of the “King’s Fall” raid.

Now that Brother Vance has returned the tournament to us after the release of Destiny: The Taken King and fixing of the Nightstalker Hunter’s Shadow Shot Glitch, I have played it and have a few impressions as to how it is this time around.

Yuu Otosaka is a student who possesses the ability to take control of anyone within his eye sight for five seconds at-a-time, using it to cheat his way into a prestigious high school and earn the spot of class representative.  Unknowingly to him, his actions are being monitored and soon he is confronted regarding his special ability.  Nao Tomori transfers him to Hoshinoumi Academy as a representative of the student council in order to track down others who also have special abilities to protect them from being experimented on.  However, the power Yuu has is not all it seems to be, and just may be the key to saving the future for others like him!

Everyone was pretty shocked at the Nintendo Direct yesterday that revealed Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII as a new playable character in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U & 3DS.  However, I feel that Tifa should have been the one to represent that particular series as it would have made more sense.  Don’t agree? Well, you need to read the article in full to find out my reasoning on why she would have been a better choice than Zack’s clone.  Hit the jump.

Street Fighter V has been getting more-and-more female characters as of lately.  We just recently had the reveal of Karin Kanzuki and now we are greeted with a brand new character by the name of Laura Matsuda, Sean Matsuda's older sister (he was debuted in Street Fighter III) who's debut was at the 2015 Brasil Game Show.

After the jump you will find my impressions on her debut along with the official trailer and screenshots from said trailer (high quality stills by the way!).  So go ahead and dig in!

Bianca recently completed an anime named Charlotte and I figured that it might be a good time to give it a try, especially since I am looking for recent anime to watch and review for RoKtheReaper.com and Genki Life Magazine (to which I am a contributor).

The first episode starts off very interesting with a boy whom can possess anyone within his line of sight...but only for five seconds.  However, he finds a way to use his powers to his advantage...but it all catches up with him in the end.  Check out my full impressions after the jump!

Sleeper Simulant is a exotic heavy weapon, the only difference that makes it unique is that it is a FUSION RIFLE.  What's so crazy that this fusion rifle has to be in the heavy weapon's slot?!  Well, I recent found out that Bungie was about to let the cat out of the bag and allow everyone to finally lay their grubby hands on it, and you know I had to be one of the first ones to get my foot in the door.

After collecting four golden age relics, multiple specific missions, rebuilding the core and waiting a day for it to be returned by the gunsmith... I was ready to do the final strike in order to obtain it.  Sleeper Simulant is now finally mine, and here are my impressions.

The King of Fighters XIII made us all marvel at how beautiful sprites could be in high definition, surpassing even the quality of Arc System Works' BlazBlue series.  I still remember reading in the past that SNK Playmore said that they would eventually be going the same route that the Street Fighter series had gone, and that is making 2.5D fighters (basically, 3D characters on a 2D plane), and it seems that day is finally upon us.

With the debut of the first "teaser trailer" for The King of Fighters XIV, I will be giving my impressions on SNK Playmore's venture into the next generation by use of the same 2.5D style that Street Fighter and latest user Guilty Gear have made its way to.  Go ahead and hit the jump to catch the full details.

Karin Kanzuki, a combatant that was first introduced within the Street Fighter Alpha series and Sakura Kasugano's main rival within the Street Fighter Legends: Sakura comics, she graces us once again as a returning veteran in Street Fighter V.  This character is the very definition of a "Ojou-sama", being fancy, rich, and believing she is better than everyone else (imagine a female take on Dudley's personality in Street Fighter III: Third Strike but more arrogant and narcissistic).  CAPCOM chose to introduce this fan favorite at Tokyo Game Show 2015.

Inside of the article you will find screenshots of Karin, her official character art, and the trailer that was shown off at TGS 2015.  I will also give you my impressions of the trailer and how I feel about this character coming back to the fray in Street Fighter V.

Waifu Crush Wednesday is modeled after the popular "#WCW" or "Women Crush Wednesday".  This bi-weekly editorial focuses upon female characters in gaming, anime, and manga that I happen to like in one form or another.  I will do my best to explain my affinity for the character featured here.

Honnouji Academy bows down to one absolute ruler, Satsuki Kiryuuin.  I feel that she was the strongest female character within the Kill la Kill anime and it was all because of her mental fortitude and absolute belief in the cause she stood for.  Originally my favorite KLK character was Mako Mankanshoku, yet the more I thought about the anime, the more I realized that I really like Satsuki more than all the others.  Ironically, Satsuki's personaltiy and Mako's are pretty much mirror opposites of each other, so there might be something more to look into regarding my own preferences, but more on that after the jump!

Now that we are officially within the second year of Destiny, we can look back on "Year One" and remember how we got to this point.  Glancing back at the memories that I hold, I can see triumphant and disappointment, satisfaction and frustration, and numerous times that I loved and hated the game.
I want to sum up my feelings, for better or for worse, on my final impression on Destiny during its first year as Bungie's new endeavor.  I will be weighing on everything that I have experienced and give to you my final verdict on whether-or-not this game was worth the hours invested into it.

Not too long ago, the very last day of June to be exact (2 weeks ago exactly), those of us in the west welcomed the release of BlazBlue: Chronophantasma EXTEND to Xbox One and Playstation 4.  It seems that we are already ushering in a brand new iteration into the fighting game series with BlazBlue: Central Fiction.  Even though this seems really early, we must remember that BlazBlue: Chronophantasma originally released in Japanese arcades in 2012 and then on home consoles in Japan in 2013; it is about time for a brand new game.

If you are interested in my thoughts on this game's announcement as well as what we see on the trailer, do not hesitate to go ahead and hit the jump.

Inside of this article for it, you can expect to see various Japanese screenshots for the game including the official thematic trailer.  Go ahead and hit the jump to catch all the goodness.

With me being more focused on my work at RoKtheReaper.com, I wanted to make sure I got things started off right by properly reviewing anime regularly.  For my first anime, I went to my friend Bianca once more to see if she had a suggestion, and she did.  She was gushing about how much she loved this anime so I figured I would check it out to see if she had a reason to go all fan-girl on me.  You can hit the jump for the full scoop.

1st Episode Impressions is an article series which focuses around critiquing the debut of a new anime or a new season's very first episode to see whether-or-not it makes a lasting impression on me from the very beginning.  It also acts as an comparative point for my final review of that anime or season.

Nisekoi: False Love is a series that I heard about from my friend Bianca (as per usual, right?), but I had also seen many images of the blonde-haired girl of the series, Chitoge.  I finally got a chance to watch the first season of this anime (I believe the second season is currently in-progress as I type this), and I want to go ahead and leave you with my impressions from what I read.

You can hit the jump for full details.

Trials of Osiris is a new Destiny event which focuses upon Fire Teams of three going into an elimination style Skirmish match.  You have to kill all enemies before they kill you, only your teammates can revive you, and you have to win 5 rounds of this in order to win a match.  Win 9 times or lose 3, either way your Trials Passage will be finish.  Also, only the best teams will have a record of 9-0 and have access to the "Lighthouse" for amazing rewards.  This is going to be my first experience in Destiny's "Trial of Osiris" and what I think about it thus far.

My good friend Bianca suggested that I could watch Nisekoi, that it was one of the ones she was currently enjoying.  She did not know if I would like it or not since a lot of it gives off the impressions of a romantic comedy, but I am usually down for whatever she suggests because I normally end up enjoying it (she has pretty good taste!).  Yesterday I finally sat down and watched the first episode of it, so now I think it is only proper to give my thoughts on it for you all to read.

1st Episode Impressions is an article series which focuses around critiquing the debut of a new anime or a new season's very first episode to see whether-or-not it makes a lasting impression on me from the very beginning.  It also acts as an comparative point for my final review of that anime or season.

Waifu Crush Wednesday is modeled after the popular "#WCW" or "Women Crush Wednesday".  This bi-weekly editorial focuses upon female characters in gaming, anime, and manga that I happen to like in one form or another.  I will do my best to explain my affinity for that particular character.

This week's Waifu Crush Wednesday will be focused upon none other than my first "waifu", Ms. Cammy White.  This Street Fighter character who first appeared in Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers is my favorite character from the Street Fighter fighting game series and is one of my favorite characters of all-time.  Despite being a brainwashed doll for the crime syndicate "Shadoloo", she manages to break free of their control and is now a special agent in Delta Red.

Go ahead and hit the jump to catch why I love Cammy!

This anime, Ace of Diamond, has been my "go to" since it first debuted in 2014.  I watched it religiously every single Sunday when I got home from work on Crunchyroll, it became the highlight of my week.  We finally got an official break in this series at episode 75, making sure it was clear in letting us know that we shall not see as much of our beloved Third Years and that it is finally time for the First and Second Years to solidify themselves as Seido's new team.

This review is going to be covering episodes 1 through 75 in the usual format.  Since this series spans a long time, I will sum it up as best as possible and give you the best impression of one of my favorite series that debuted in 2014.  You can hit the jump below for the full details!

We got quite a surprise during the always informational "Nintendo Direct" which took place yesterday on April 1st.  We found out that the DLC character Mewtwo will be available to download in two weeks for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U & 3DS while we will be getting Lucas in June (Lucas is from "Mother" the same game as Ness, he made his debut in Brawl).  However, the most significant thing in my opinion is the fact that we have the ability to possibly get the characters we want the most in by use of fan voting.  This is huge and gives me an opportunity to bring my voice straight to Nintendo.

My vote is going to go towards none other than "Sami" ( ドミノ or Domino in Japan), the lovely female Commanding Officer of the Orange Star Army in the game "Advance Wars" for Game Boy Advance ( Known as "ゲームボーイウォーズアドバンス" or "Game Boy Wars Advance" in Japan).  I feel she would be a perfect fit and be right at home among the other combatants.  Besides, I also feel like we need more diverse female combatants and ones with actual combatant experience (especially since I usually main female characters in fighting games but had not had ones to fit my fancy in Smash).

Hit the jump to catch why I am voting for Sami.

Shingeki no Kyojin better known in the west by its translated name "Attack on Titan" became a huge hit all over the world and has spawned many things, including advertisement, a live action movie in the making, and video games.  Atlus is now bringing over Attack on Titan: Humanity in Chains to the west since it was only available in Japan until now.  North America and Europe will get to play local or online in up to 4-play co-op.

Inside you can find the teaser/announcement trailer and some screenshots available for you to view!  Also, if you did not know, this game is for the Nintendo 3DS and supports the New Nintendo 3DS' C-Stick!

NOTE   - For those of you who have not checked out Attack on Titan, you can download the first two episodes completely free on Nintendo's eshop right now!

Killer Instinct is the main reason that I bought an Xbox One, plain and simple.  I really could not wait to play the next iteration of my favorite fighting game series of all-time, it felt like a dream.  I remember desperately waiting for another game after Killer Instinct 2, but years passed me by without even a mention of the series, the best I had to sate my thirst was fake Killer Instinct 3 trailers.  That soon changed at Electronics Entertainment Expo 2013 when a reboot of the iconic franchise was announced for Microsoft's next generation console.  The announcement was exactly what I wanted, and I went absolutely bonkers inside of my Xbox Live viewing party.

Fast forward to the here and now in 2015, a few years after its initial launch and I am saddened by my lack of interest in the game for varying reasons.  However, even with the disappointment I have in this newest Killer Instinct, Hisako stands as a beacon of hope for me amongst the shattered remains of my child hood dreams.  This article is going to be focused on exactly why Hisako threatens to fan the dying embers of my love for this game and erupt it into a full blown inferno.

NOTE  - I know that Hisako is already available to play, but I do not own the Ultra Edition nor the Combo Breaker Edition of Killer Instinct.  I am speaking when she is available to be purchased individually for those who want to pay on a character-by-character basis due to player preference or budget restraints.

Omega Quintet has a new batch of screenshots featuring some of the larger enemies that players will be facing within the game, seven in total.  Not only that, but I have also embedded a clip titled "Inchoate Voice" which shows off the game's PVS system in action, otherwise known as "Promotional Video System".

After the jump you will see the screenshots and the brand new trailer for Omega Quintet.  This game is set to release in North America on April 28th in both physical and digital formats.  Those who dwell in Europe will get the game a little later on May 1st for the physical copy of the game and May 6th for the digital downloadable version.  This game is currently only for Playstation 4.

Atlus is now bringing over another Tactical Japanese Role-Playing Game by the name of "Lost Dimension", a game where you supposedly have psychic powers and must stop an evil entity known as "The End" while simultaneously eliminating traitors in your group by erasing their existence.  Sounds pretty interesting, does it not?  You can find a small description, press release, screenshots, and the opening movie after the jump below.

Announced as an exclusive for the Nintendo 3DS is Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold:  The Fafnir Knight.  This is a Japanese Role-Playing Game slated for release in the summer of this year.  If you are interested in exactly what the game entails, want to see the debut trailer for the game, and if you are interested in a couple of screenshots from the game itself, go ahead and hit the jump.  Oh, I also forgot that the full press release is included below as well.

With Street Fighter V was announced this year and we have already seen trailers of Ryu, Chun-Li, and the latest of Charlie Nash.  Bison was teased as returning, but we do not really have any knowledge of characters beyond this.  While I did hear that Street Fighter V is possibly taking place after Street Fighter III's story, that does not mean that characters included within that game are necessarily making a return.  This article is going to be about the characters whom I would want to see in the next iteration of Capcom's legendary fighting game series.

There are currently many anime that end in "-gatari", but I had personally never seen one.  Well, wanting to see one, my friend Rasean introduced me to one he heard had been pretty good, Katanagatari.  We started off watching that anime together and eventually stopped since Destiny got in the way (damn that game is good), but I was so ensnared by the anime I wanted to see it to its end, and so I did.

This review is going to tell you what I thought about Katanagatari and what it had to offer.  Was this anime a good recommendation all the way to its end?  Or was this just something I wanted to finish since I had already gotten most of the way through it?  You can find out after the jump!

Top 5 Tuesdays is an article series that focuses on my "top five" anything on a given subject of my choosing that pertains to either gaming, anime, or manga.

RWBY is the original work of Monty Oum, the creator of such incredible videos like "Dead Fantasy: Dead or Alive vs Final Fantasy" and "Haloid: Master Chief vs Samus Aran".  Honestly, he has some of the best fight choreography that I have ever seen and all of his creations are works that I find to be well done.  Monty Oum passed away not too long ago, leaving far too soon with the brilliance of his latest series left unfinished.  I have no idea if RWBY will continue, but I did enjoy what we have seen if indeed RWBY: Volume 2 is the last we will see of Team Ruby and Team Juniper.

This Top 5 Tuesday's post is going to be focusing on which characters that are my favorite from his latest series and why I loved them so much.  You can catch the list after the jump.  Also, feel free to leave a comment telling me who are your favorites and why!  I would love to hear.

Inspired by an early draft of William Shakespeare’s Richard III, REQUIEM OF THE ROSE KING was created by Aya Kanno, who is widely known for her previous manga series BLANK SLATE and OTOMEN.  This new manga is about to release under the publisher Viz Media, who has released a full press review detailing it.  You can find the full press release after the jump below.

Playing catch-up on something is never fun, unless the thing we are talking about just so happens to be an anime.  I have finally watched "Akame ga Kill!", the newest anime everyone saw fit to go completely bonkers over.  However, is the anime as good as everyone says?  Or was this simply another anime that was hyped up for shallow reasons while the core of it actually lacked substance?

Find if Akame ga Kill! stacks up to the hype with my in-depth review after the jump.

Street Fighter V was announced not too long ago, much hype ensued from seeing Ryu and Chun-Li duke it out in the next iteration of the series.  However, with the excitement of a brand new entry into the iconic fighting game series, one also has to ask which veteran characters will make it in for another go?  Ryu and Chun-Li (Mr. and Mrs. Street Fighter) are a given, but anyone beyond that is honestly up for debate.  This Top 5 Tuesday's post is devoted to which returning characters I would like to appear in Street Fighter V.

Thorn was a weapon that many cried needed to be buffed after feeling like it provided little to no incentive to be an exotic primary.  Bungie replied back by giving it some buffs that would make it a better weapon, however, I felt like they took things a bit too far...especially when I thought that Thorn was perfectly fine how it was to begin with.

This article is going to be directed as to why I feel like Thorn is entirely too good of a weapon at this point and time and why it needs to be reverted back to how it was before Bungie decided it to was time to tinker with its stats.

The new year is upon us!  2015, year of the sheep!  2014 was a pretty crazy year and I made a lot of progress on this site, a lot more than I have made in any of the years that it was open.  However, I am not going to lie, I slacked tremendously and I have much to atone for going into 2015.

This site announcement is just going to spell out some of my future plans for RoKtheReaper.com in terms of incoming content, new features, and expected accomplishments from my endeavors in 2015.  In the words of Vergil from Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, "Now I'm motivated!".
