Today a bomb was dropped on the gaming community as CAPCOM officially announced Street Fighter V, which is the next iteration of the famed fighting game series.  However, the piece that shocked everyone was that it will be exclusive to only the Playstation 4 and the PC, leaving out those who favor the Xbox One.  This is a very bold move as Microsoft is quickly closing in sales on Sony's console through price cuts and special bundled deals throughout this winter holiday...but also this may speak to Japan's loyalty to its home team.

This is the full trailer as we saw it right now.  You can catch my thoughts about the trailer after the jump if you are interested in it.

This is the new trailer for the upcoming 2015 Dragon Ball Z movie Dragon Ball Z: Revival of "F", it is also known as Dragon Ball Z: Fukkatsu no F.  This will be available to watch in Japanese theaters as of April 18th, 2015.  In this movie Frieza has been wished back to life from two former members of the army he amassed while living.

It will be interesting to see how this movie progresses, seeing as how in Goku has already defeated Frieza once before (and if you want to count Dragon Ball GT as a relevant piece of the Dragon Ball timeline, then we already know he gets beaten for a second time).  It will be interesting to see exactly how they make the fight between Frieza and Goku interesting.

The good people at Bungie has given us another trailer for their first Destiny expansion titled, "The Dark Below".  Unlike the cinematic trailer which we got titled "The Dark Below Prologue" or the Official Preview Trailer we got for it (Which explains some of the ideas behind making this expansion pack), this one shows a lot more of what we can expect from it in terms of armor, weapons, etc.  Come to think of it, it is more-or-less like a shorter version of the "Official Preview" trailer.  So yeah, enjoy it!

While we cannot really hold Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS as the final word on how the competitive scene will fair for Smash 4 – mainly simply because you have more control over how your character responds with the many other options given to the Wii U's version – it is enough to provide a small glimpse into what we can expect from the game.  I have been playing this game quite a bit and I have developed some feelings on it from that time playing.  This article is going to deal with my personal experience from playing in "For Glory" mode in Smash 3DS' online, as well as a few matches in the Ranked Singles Ladder at Nintendojo (Formerly known as "All is Brawl" during the Super Smash Bros. Brawl days).  I will also be forming my analysis from what I have seen from watching the game being streamed on Twitch TV and in tournament matches on YouTube.

RoKtheRaeper.com has been very slow as of late, this has to due with a variety of issues that mostly pertain to my addiction with the game "Destiny" by Bungie, feeling overwhelmed by the amount of content I still need to post, and the uncertainty of exactly what and how I should be posting this content.  My decline in activity can also be attributed by mixed feelings concerning social media such as Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and others of such nature.  This article discusses my plan on how to get back into the flow of things and how it will impact the future of RoKtheReaper.com starting from now.

Gaming with your friends can be universally agreed upon as one of the most entertaining and fulfilling things that video games can offer.  We all love teaming up with our comrades to take down other players in competitive environments or to annihilate computer controlled opponents in cooperative engagements.  However, something that is seldom discussed are the drawbacks caused by being accustomed to teaming up with others.

This editorial is going to discuss the issues that we are sometimes faced with because we choose to indulge in our gaming hobby with friends instead of enjoying them solo.  While it seems like playing with friends is all sunshine and rainbows, it is often creating problems that could very well hinder your gaming tendencies if a rift to occur, and often in ways that you are not aware of until it is too late.

Destructive Creations has revealed its first game titled "Hatred".  This game has lit the flames of controversy from its depictions of a mass murderer taking joy in the killing of innocent people.  Some people have looked at it with ardent disgust, even to the point where Epic Game have asked that Hatred take its logo off of its trailer even though it is using the Unreal 4 Engine that they have created.

The point of this editorial is going to express my feelings on how completely ridiculous these people's reactions are to this game, how double-standard everyone is being, and how exactly "Hatred" could serve to provide new forms of entertainment for the rest of us while pushing the boundaries of conventional thought in video games.

Two of Destiny's biggest events have come to an end, "Queen's Wrath", and "Iron Banner".  I was very excited for each of them because I just could not get enough of Destiny, loving the game to the point I was actually neglecting some of the work I needed to be doing right here at RoKtheReaper.com!  Now that the events are over I can truthfully say that I just was not impressed.

This editorial will be discussing what I thought about both Queen's Wrath and Iron Banner, what I liked about them, hated about them, and what Bungie could have did to make the experience much more enjoyable.

Dimitri, a man born of drifters who was taken in by a high ranking social family due to his ability as a singer.  Over the coming years he has perfected his craft and has become one of the star Tenors in Vienna during the early 1900's.  After a freak accident that ended his life, he comes to find out that he is now a vampire whom has been chosen as the vessel for the seed of a deceased vampire lord.

Finding out this new power and having the purity stolen from his beloved, how will he make of things?  What happens when Dimitri shows himself to a Tokyo-area school teacher in 2008 who is on the verge of watching her love die, only to offer her the ability to save him at the cost of her soul?  You can see if things are truly as interesting as they sound in my review for Black Rose Alice Vol. 1.

With an intense game ahead of us, one can only imagine what is about to happen.  Great intensity is sure to be a factor in possibly the biggest challenges for anyone who plays high school baseball in the Kanto region of Japan.  However, with that in mind, I wanted to look back on Ace of Diamond episodes 41 through 44 and examine exactly why they were so crucial to Sawamura's character development as far as the future of this show goes.

WARNING! - This editorial is full of spoilers up to episode 44 of Ace of Diamond.  You should only read this editorial if you do not plan on watching this series, have already watched this series up to episode 44, or you do not care whether-or-not you are spoiled.

We are now two days away from the release of the most anticipated game of the entire year, choices and decisions have to be made quickly in order to not waste time once it launches.  I evaluated everything and figured that the class I am going to go with is the Titan, while it is probably the worst in terms of Player vs Player and Solo situations, I am pretty sure that it is most vital class in the teamwork category and will allow me to aid those around me better.  You can hit the jump to catch further explanations.

Shulk is now announced officially for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS!  This swordsman wields the blade "Minato" and looks absolutely stylish in his reveal trailer and has currently secured the spot to be my main character when this game arrives (Since the only other ones I really like are Robin and Ike)!  Also, could this mean that the leaked roster that has been circulating around the internet be true?  Only time will tell!

To see the trailer, promotional artwork, and screenshots of Shulk you already know what to do.  Go ahead and hit the jump!

Mario Kart 8 is one of the major games which helped to sell the Nintendo Wii U at this point, it would not make sense for them to not give the fans more incentive to play it while increasing their profits simultaneously.  Nintendo has released a Press Release detailing exactly what we can expect in the new up-and-coming Mario Kart 8 DLC.  Right now we know that new drivers will be added (Such as Link from The Legend of Zelda in the featured article image above), brand new karts, and 16 all new courses.  Go ahead and hit the jump to check out the full Press Release.

BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma is the most recent IP entry into the game series known as "BlazBlue".  I was pleasantly surprised and amused once I found out about "BlazBlue: Clone Phantasma" coming out for the Nintendo 3DS and I knew I had to get my hands on it to review.  Being a dedicated fan of the original fighting game series, I figured that this was going to be hilarious because it reminded me of one of the "Gag Endings" in BlazBlue's Story Mode but with chibi's present in the omakes of "Teach Me!, Miss Litchi!" and "Help Me Professor Kokonoe!".

This is going to be my review telling you whether-or-not this game is worth the asking price.  Go ahead and hit the jump to check out the comprehensive review.

Friday, August 22, 2014

Finally we get English trailers for the two DLC characters for Persona 4 Ultimax, Tohru Adachi "The Egocentric Police Dick" and Marie "The Antisocial Poet of the Hollow Forest".  I am not going to lie, I am really like both characters so far.  I mainly like Tohru Adachi for his "Holier than thou" attitude, not to mention he seems a bit pessimistic and hard to deal with.  I really like Marie because her clothes are awesome and she uses electricity (Which is colored blue, unlike the yellow we see from Kanji Tatsumi).  The trailer is embedded below, check it out.

Also, as a reminder, for those of you who purchase "Persona 4 Ultimax" for either Playstation 3 or Xbox 360, both Tohru Adachi and Marie will be available for FREE to download during the first week of release.

Top 5 Tuesdays is an article series that focuses on my "top five" anything on a given subject of my choosing that pertains to either gaming, anime, or manga.

Xbox 360 was my favorite gaming platform of all-time due to the memories that I had with it.  However, Xbox One is here and is soon to take its place.  We are past the 6 month mark and continue to have monthly updates, however I feel that the X1 still has quite the ways to go.  Here are the Top 5 things I think that the newest all-in-one entertainment system from Microsoft still needs.

1st Episode Impressions is an article series which focuses around critiquing the debut of a new anime or season's very first episode to see whether-or-not it makes a lasting impression on me from the very beginning.  It also acts as an comparative point for my final review of that anime or season.

RWBY was a decent first try by Monty Oum (Maker of Dead Fantasy: Dead or Alive vs Final Fantasy and Haloid: Master Chief vs Samus Aran) in making his own anime, and while it was lacking in a lot of respects, it still proved enjoyable overall.  With Monty taking more time to work on the production of RWBY Volume 2, this will be my time to see if he has done his homework and managed to improve on his formula.

Also, be sure to check out my review for RWBY Volume 1.

Top 5 Tuesdays is an article series that focuses on my "top five" anything on a given subject of my choosing that pertains to either gaming, anime, or manga.

Fighting games are use to crossing over, I mean we mostly see it with CAPCOM (Such as Marvel vs Capcom, Tatsunoko vs Capcom, Capcom vs SNK, etc.), but other series have begin to also do it as well (Such as Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe).  We have even seen other fighting games include other fighters from their series inside of their official releases, such as the inclusion of Virtua Fighter characters inside of Dead or Alive 5.

This article is going to talk about the top 5 fighting game crossovers that I want to see take place (Including the Top 5 fighters from each side I would want to make it in).  Some of these may never get made but it does not hurt to dream, right?
